Prince Harry Blames Tabloid Coverage for Breakup with Chelsy Davy

Prince Harry has testified in court that leaked details of his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, caused irreparable damage. Harry was in a long-distance relationship with the Zimbabwean entrepreneur from 2004 to 2010.

According to Harry, “Mirror Group Newspapers” repeatedly hacked his and Davy’s phones, and articles were published based on these conversations. These tabloid reports went so far as to mention private conversations between the two that were only disclosed through illegal means.

The Prince’s concerns relate to the media’s coverage of his split from Davy. She is now named Chelsy Yvonne Cutmore-Scott, and their breakup was covered in what Harry called “inhumane” articles. In these articles, he says the details about their conversations were not attributed to any sources.

Harry said that he trusted Davy with the most sensitive personal information, which included his vacations off the coast of Mozambique. He remembers always seeing missed calls, which he now believes were signs of hacking. Journalists and photographers would arrive at their hotel even before they did, which was a sign that their privacy was being invaded. They were never alone, away from prying eyes, which led to unbearable strains in their relationship. These strains were the main reason why they broke up.

The Prince testified that he developed depression and paranoia, leading to the cutting of certain friends off from his life because he thought they were leaking information to the press.

However, lawyers for the publishers argued that six years had already passed since most of Harry’s claims, and the information was already published by other news outlets.

For the latest legal complaint about privacy violations, Prince Harry’s focus is the evidence against “Mirror Group Newspapers.”
