Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube In the past few years, Nintendo has been quite active in the announcement and release of its games. There has been only a short time between the initial announcement and the release of the company’s main titles, with the exception of Kingdom Hearts. However, this was not the case for Metroid Prime 4. Originally revealed on June 13th, 2017 (nearly 7 years ago), the game’s development was restarted exactly 5 years ago, as announced on Nintendo’s YouTube channel on January 25th, 2019 by Nintendo EPD’s Shinya Takahashi. At that time, Takahashi mentioned that the current development did not meet the high standards set by the Metroid Prime series. He emphasized Nintendo’s commitment to delivering high-quality games and that if the desired level of quality is not achieved, the game will not live up to fan expectations. Takahashi also mentioned that the original studio behind the Metroid Prime trilogy, Retro Studios, will continue to work closely with the creator Kensuke Tanabe. Before this announcement, the game was rumored to be developed by Bandai Namco Studios, but this has not been officially confirmed by Nintendo. As of now, the release date for Metroid Prime 4 is still ‘TBA’. There have been speculations about the possibility of the title being released on the successor to the Switch, but an official statement from Nintendo is still awaited. Many, including us, are wondering if the announcement of Metroid Prime 4 was made too early. Are you still excited about it? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
