Russia announced that it successfully repelled Ukrainian drone attacks in various areas, including Crimea, outer Moscow, and two border regions. These attacks are part of Ukraine’s ongoing offensive to regain control of Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. Recently, the frequency of attacks in Crimea has increased.
In response to Ukraine’s counter-offensive in early June, Russia has faced sporadic waves of drone attacks, resulting in occasional damage to buildings in Moscow and elsewhere. However, Russian officials have downplayed the significance of these attacks.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Telegram that drones were intercepted in multiple locations, including the Crimean peninsula, Moscow’s Istra and Domodedovo districts, and the Belgorod and Voronezh regions. They declared that most of the attacks occurred on Sunday and that the drones were successfully thwarted. The ministry provided updates throughout the day, reporting the destruction of a total of 13 drones, with nine of them intercepted over Crimea.
No information was given regarding any casualties or damage caused by the attacks. However, the Russian ministry claimed that missile strikes hit production workshops at a military vehicle repairs plant in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. They specified that these workshops were responsible for repairing and restoring armored vehicles for the Ukrainian armed forces. On the other hand, Kharkiv regional governor Oleg Synegubov stated that Russia targeted a civilian business in their missile attack on the city, causing a fire.
