In two western regions, Russia announced on Wednesday that it had successfully destroyed four Ukrainian drones overnight.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, an attack carried out by two drones in the Belgorod region, which shares a border with Ukraine, was thwarted around 9:00 pm. Another attack was reported in the Oryol region, located further north towards Moscow.
The Defense Ministry stated that “the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over Belgorod and Oryol region by air defense systems on duty.”
The updates indicated that one of the drones was taken down over Oryol at approximately 10:30 pm, while the other was downed over Belgorod at around 11:45 pm. The Defense Ministry did not provide information regarding any damage or injuries resulting from the drone incidents.
In recent times, Russia has been confronted with increasing waves of drone attacks, causing damage to various buildings, including those in the capital Moscow, ever since Ukraine launched its counteroffensive in early June.
Russian officials have attempted to downplay the significance of these attacks.
