The Ministry of Defense has announced that Russia successfully shot down one Ukrainian drone near Moscow and six others in the annexed Crimean peninsula on Sunday.
In a Telegram post, the Defense Ministry stated that at approximately 1:45 am, one drone was intercepted in Moscow’s Istrinsky district.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin provided additional information, stating that based on preliminary data, no damage or casualties were reported at the location where the debris fell. He added that emergency services specialists are currently at the scene.
The ministry further revealed that two Ukrainian drones were destroyed at 1:15 am along the west coast of Crimea, with an additional four drones detected and eliminated between 1:45 and 2:20 am over the peninsula.
These attacks are part of a series of drone offensives launched by Ukraine since early June. The sporadic strikes have resulted in occasional damage to buildings, including in the capital.
Russian officials have downplayed the significance of these incidents.
