Capcom has recently revealed their latest DLC character for Street Fighter 6, Ed, the Psycho Powered boxer from Street Fighter 5. He makes a comeback with a refreshed appearance and new, more sophisticated abilities. Following the release of the trailer for the upcoming fighting game, fans took notice of the striking resemblance between Ed’s moves and those of another Tekken character. A new simulation video by b_HAUNT has made it apparent that Ed’s moves seem to draw heavily from a Tekken character, Steve Fox. Steve Fox, who debuted in Tekken 4, is known for his quick footwork and powerful punches. Interestingly, Ed’s moves appear to be reminiscent not just of Steve Fox, but also of the Street Fighter X Tekken version of the character, which was developed by Capcom. The most striking similarity between the two fighters is Ed’s Flicker attack. Ed’s buttons now execute quick jabs at different angles to control space and catch opponents off guard, bearing a strong resemblance in animation and function to Steve’s Flicker jabs in Street Fighter x Tekken. In this game, the boxer can also unleash various jabs. Additionally, it seems that Ed has a target combo in Street Fighter 6 that mirrors the EX version of Steve’s Flicker, delivering three hits at range. Beyond these similarities, there are resemblances in the way they utilize their powers, projectiles, rapid punches, other standard attacks, and evasive maneuvers. A comprehensive comparison between Street Fighter 6’s Ed and Street Fighter x Tekken’s Steve is featured below.
