Suicide Squad Easter Egg Hints At The Return Of A Beloved Character

February 9, 2024

Since the announcement of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, there has been much speculation about a significant event involving Batman. The game, developed by Rocksteady, is a continuation of the Batman: Arkham story, so fans have been curious about how the game will incorporate the caped crusader. A newly discovered Easter egg has surfaced, and it could dampen excitement about Batman’s involvement, or it could be a subtle hint at the possible appearance of Calendar Man in the future.
Game Week: Killing Your Heroes, And More New FeaturesImage titled Suicide Squad Easter Egg Tips For The Return Of A Favorite CharacterAs the game’s title suggests, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League revolves around the release of DC Comics superheroes who have been held captive by the mind-controlling Brainiac. Among the captives is Batman, and while his appearance is a notable aspect in the Arkham games, his demise at the hands of Harley Quinn has sparked concern among some fans. The death of a character like Batman typically carries less weight, as there is often a means to resurrect the character, such as the Lazarus Pit. However, this particular death has been viewed as significant for several reasons. Notably, it marked one of Kevin Conroy’s final portrayals of Batman before his passing in November 2022. This event left many feeling that it signaled the end of the Arkham version of Bruce Wayne, a character that players had deeply connected with. The unexpected nature of this event left a similar impact on some players as seen in The Last of Us Part II, eliciting largely negative reactions when the event was explored on YouTube. Hidden within the world of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League are 12 calendars, hinting at the potential return of Batman in some form. The Batman Arkham YouTube channel has shared a video (thanks to IGN) showcasing these calendars, which are scattered on various walls throughout the game’s open world. Each calendar corresponds to a different month and day of the year, with December being the exception, as it is marked with the Batman logo instead of a specific date. When the calendars are arranged in chronological order and the date numbers are used to correspond to different letters (e.g., 1 for A, 2 for B, and so on), a secret message is revealed: January 8 – H, February 5 – E, March 23 – W, April 9 – I, May 12 – L, June 12 – L, July 18 – R, August 5 – E, September 20 – T, October 21 – U, November 18 – R, December 14 – N. The question remains: who will make a return? The use of the calendars appears to pay homage to Calendar Man, a recurring character in the Batman universe known for committing crimes on various holidays. While the murderer has appeared in previous Arkham games, the inclusion of Batman’s symbol on the December calendar suggests the possibility of Bruce finding a way back from his demise. At this time, it remains unknown, but the studio has intentions to introduce new characters into the shooter game. However, given the game’s focus on shooting and firearms, it seems unlikely that Batman will be directly involved, as his character traditionally avoids the use of guns.
