Suicide Squad: Kill Justice League was not the game fans were hoping for from the creators of Arkham. It’s another annual video game release that didn’t receive much hype. However, as a fan of Rocksteady’s previous work, I was intrigued by the concept of playing as villains. Yet, after spending over 12 hours playing the game, I’m not certain it will live up to expectations. This is not a full review, but rather a reflection on my experience with Rocksteady’s new game featuring Harley Quinn, Boomerang, King Shark, and Deadshot. The story centers around the villains trying to save Metropolis from an alien threat led by Brainiac. The gameplay primarily consists of rooftop navigation and combat against a repetitive stream of enemy encounters, with occasional mission modifiers to spice things up. While the story and character development are engaging, the gameplay feels monotonous, with missions often boiling down to repetitive objectives. The cutscenes and performances are enjoyable, but the gameplay lacks variety and originality. The game’s weapons and sound effects are well-executed, adding depth to the combat experience. However, after 12 hours, the repetitive nature of the missions begins to overshadow the game’s positive aspects. Despite the enjoyable combat and engaging story, the lack of diversity in missions raises concerns about the game’s long-term appeal.
