Mumbai: A recent study conducted by talent solutions provider Ciel Group has revealed that companies are planning to increase their headcount in Global Capability Centres (GCC) as they shift their focus towards technology and innovation-led initiatives. There is a growing demand for specialized skills in digital technology and machine learning.
Roles such as Artificial Intelligence, Applied Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Cyber Security, Blockchain, Augmented Reality Apps Design, Engineering, and UI/UX design are in high demand, particularly in the Software, Automotive, Pharmaceuticals, and Banking Finance Services and Insurances (BFSI) sectors. The study, which was released on Tuesday, highlighted these trends.
The study is based on inputs from 96 companies that have GCCs and employ 57,500 professionals across various sectors. These companies either established their GCCs last year or expanded their operations.
The study also revealed a significant increase in demand for software engineers in GCCs over the past year. Additionally, the demand for Cloud Engineers and Data Engineers has risen as well.
Aditya Narayan Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of Ciel HR Services, stated that there has been a noticeable increase in the establishment of GCCs by companies in the auto sector.
According to the study, 42% of GCCs are located in Bengaluru, followed by 22% in Hyderabad, 10% in Pune, and 8% in Delhi.
Around 51% of all GCC job openings allow for work-from-office arrangements, which is lower compared to the IT Sector with around 77% job openings for on-site work, indicating a greater openness to alternative work models in the sector.
