The latest Tesla app update includes Ultra Wideband (UWB) support, aiming to enhance the functionality of the Phone Keys feature within the Tesla app (via Tesla North). This allows Tesla owners to use their smartphone as a virtual key to lock and unlock their cars, without the need for a physical key.

The Ultra Wideband support offers improved tracking capabilities compared to Bluetooth. This enables the Phone Key feature to better detect the proximity of an iPhone to the car, allowing for more accurate locking and unlocking. The release notes state that Ultrawide band (UWB) technology is now accessible on the Phone Key, facilitating enhanced communication between the car and the Phone Key for locking, unlocking, and opening emergency doors. However, to utilize this new feature, Tesla owners will need both a car that supports Ultra Wideband and an iPhone with Ultra Wideband. To enable this feature, owners must ensure that their Tesla software is updated to version 4.29.5 and follow the upgrade steps.

According to DigiTimes, previous predictions for the prices of the upcoming 11-inch OLED iPad models may be significantly higher than the actual figures.
