The State Department has recently reissued its Level 2 travel advisory for Ecuador on June 22. Visitors are advised to be cautious when traveling to the country due to ongoing civil unrest, high levels of crime and the risk of kidnapping. Specific areas to avoid include Guayaquil, located south of Portete de Tarquí Avenue, as well as the cities of Huaquillas and Arenillas in the El Oro province. Additionally, travelers are recommended to reconsider visiting the cities of Quevedo, Quinsaloma, and Pueblo Viejo in the Los Rios province, and Esmeraldas city and all areas north of Esmeraldas city in the Esmeraldas province. It is also suggested to exercise caution when traveling to Guayaquil north of Portete de Tarquí Avenue, as well as areas outside the cities of Huaquillas and Arenillas in the El Oro province. Moreover, visitors are advised to be cautious when traveling to the Los Rios province outside the cities of Quevedo, Quinsaloma, and Pueblo Viejo, as well as areas south of Esmeraldas city in the Esmeraldas province. Finally, it is recommended to avoid the provinces of Sucumbíos, Manabí, Santa Elena, and Santo Domingo.
