The Smart frame Skylight brand is widening its product lineup beyond digital photo frames and introducing a new 27-inch calendar light, known as Calendar Max or Cal Max for short. Its functionality is similar to the older 10-inch and 15-inch models with a few differences, the most prominent being its larger size. The Cal Max produces a Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440 pixel) image, making it convenient to quickly check everyone’s schedules for the week. It can be placed horizontally or vertically using Portrait Mode if space is limited. Additionally, the screen is coated with an anti-glare layer, ensuring visibility even in bright sunlight. Conceptually, the Cal Max shares similarities with the previous 10-inch model due to its rounded corners. However, this time, the frame around the screen is customizable. Potential buyers can choose between a black or white plastic frame and an aluminum Shadow Box frame, available in charcoal gray or plain metallic finish. The frame can be selected on the Cal Max checkout page. However, it is not possible to purchase both frames simultaneously or separately in the lineup. In terms of features, the new Skylight system incorporates all the features of the old devices. It can display scheduled events from various calendar sources, such as Google Calendar and Outlook. Users can also create events directly on the Cal Max or through the official mobile app on Android and iOS. Once an event is created, it can be assigned to other household members using the Color Coding tool. Cal Max also offers other useful tools, including the Chore Chart, which automates chores by marking them as completed once done. Custom Views allow users to switch between various views, such as daily, weekly, or monthly. The Sleep Mode feature lets users schedule the screen to turn off at night and turn on in the morning. Other notable features include 32GB of storage and two four-watt speakers for audio. Availability The Calendar Max is available for pre-order in the US on the company’s website. Prices vary based on the chosen frame, with the plastic version retailing for $599.99 and the aluminum version priced at $629.99. Orders will start shipping in June, with sales being limited. However, customers can reserve a Cal Max by paying a $100 premium. The company has not disclosed plans for a broader release at this time. As previously mentioned, Skylight has been at the forefront of digital photo frame technology with its popular Skylight Frame device, which is ideal for displaying holiday photos or family memories.
